CASÃ’N BIANCO

CASÃ’N ROSSO

CASÒN Bianco

Over 40 years ago, in the 1980s, the first reported predictions of drastic climate change prompted us to start experimenting with new grape varieties, including Viognier and Petit Manseng. Today they are the two main grape varieties of the CASÒN Bianco. Petit Manseng is characterised by its loose-berried grape clusters and thick skins, making it particularly resistant to diseases and adverse weather conditions. In the case of Viognier, we have observed that this southern variety is developing its own special character in Alto Adige.

CASÒN Rosso

Recent years have seen us become more and more enthusiastic about the Tannat grape, an unconventional variety in Alto Adige. Initially planted in the 1980s for field trials, this French-origin grape thrives well in Alto Adige, maintaining the high acidity levels that result in exceptional red wines. It now forms the backbone of our red CASÒN wine.

The Casòn Hirschprunn Estate

In 1991, our father acquired the Casòn Hirschprunn Estate in the centre of Magrè, with over 30 hectares (74 acres) of vineyards and several historic buildings. Aware of the emerging concerns about climate change, he started experimentally cultivating new grape varieties. With more than four decades of experience, this estate now grows a range of exciting grape varieties for our two CASÒN wines.
